The Vigil takes place each year during Pride Month at Barbara Hall Park adjoining the 519 Community Centre.

2017 marked the 33rd year of the AIDS Candlelight Vigil. The theme for this year’s Vigil was “In the Spirit of Wellness & Healing”.

Our Co-Hosts for this year were Leonard Benoit from 2-Spirited People of the First Nations and Ana Demetrakopoulos from The AIDS Bereavement and Resiliency Program of Ontario (ABRPO).

The evening included performances by FORTE Toronto Gay Men’s Chorus, Ballet Creole, Francois Gallant and Bernice Chan. The event closed with a reading of the names of those who have passed from HIV/AIDS or AIDS related illnesses, followed by a candle lighting ceremony.

The AIDS Candlelight Vigil is an open community event held annually at the AIDS Memorial to remember, honour and celebrate those that have passed from AIDS or AIDS related illnesses.
